SPANISH EVENING…Friday July 9th

I was approached by a group of members at Family Day last week who were saying what a great day they’d had….and why don’t we do more socials. In particular, several mentioned now much they had enjoyed last year’s SPANISH EVENING.  So here goes again.  Friday July 9th.  Spanish Dancers, Spanish Music, Tapas, Rioja.  It’s going to be just like last year only much BETTER.   It starts at 7.00pm

TENNIS MORNINGS

 We really, really want to see YOU on the tennis courts this summer, so we’re making it even easier for you to join in.  During July we now have TWO tennis mornings.  Wednesday at 9.45am with Cara……Thursday at 10.45am with Simon.  Just come along.  Hire a racket at Reception for £1.00 if you wish. 

Can’t make mornings???….And you’re a Beginner or nervous improver??  Try Bruce’s Thursday evening session at 6.30pm.  It’s especially for you. BUT please note, due to a match, there’s no Beginners session on the 8th July

BADMINTON NEWS

The badminton season has now come to  a close and to celebrate we had an end of season BBQ and quiz.  We had over 40 people turn up and we all had a terrific time.  Many thanks to you all and congratulations to the winning team of Paul, Sara, Karen, Kev and Dan.

The coaching sessions have been going well with next week (July 5th) being the last week.  We look forward to seeing you all at the next 'All England championships'!!

RACE FOR LIFE

A big well done to everybody who took part in this years Race for Life.

Our 'Beechdown Girls' team did so well and all managed to completed the race in under 41mins. A special well done to Tash Porter and Mandy Bourne who both came in the top 10 finishers.  How great is that??? So far we have raised almost £500 for Cancer Research which is fantastic. Thank you to everybody who has sponsored us and for those that haven't had the chance yet, there is still time to do so by following the link on the Beechdown website.

END OF TERM PARTY

Most local schools break up on Friday July 23rd so we are celebrating the start of the holidays with a SKOOLS OUT PARTY in the Brasserie.  There will be two Kids’ Entertainers and Kids’ food from 4pm.  And we won’t forget the grown ups either!!!  Great menu and entertainment for them too. Watch out for details nearer the time.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

Throughout the month of August we will be putting on lots of extra activities on weekday mornings to keep the little members happy during the holidays. There will be things such Martial Arts, Tennis Workshops, Arts & Crafts, Summer Games etc. Keep your eye out on the Children’s notice board for more details.  Coming soon

I am delighted to introduce a brand new class to your studio timetable. In fact a class that is "Exclusive" to Beechdown. Starting on Sunday July 4th at 10.15am Tanya will be putting you through a phenomenal new programme called "Turbo Kick." Come and meet Mandy, our new Children’s Dance Teacher.  Every Monday 4.30 to 5.15pm and 5.15 to 6.00pm.  Mandy has 25 years dance experience and has been instructing for the past 8 years. Mandy has taught classes in the style of jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, contemporary and hip-hop. Mandy was in the Cheer Leading squad for three local sports teams in North Carolina.

CYCLE TO KABUL IN THE GYM

July’s Gym Challenge is in support of ‘Help for Heroes’.  We aim to cycle from Basingstoke to Afghanistan. Basingstoke to Kabul is 3,500 Miles.

All Members can use any piece of CV equipment (including spin bikes) for this challenge and each mile they complete they can log at the Gym desk (on our challenge board)

The Map on our challenge board will show our progress en route to Afghanistan, and the Gym Team will tally up the amount of miles we as a club have achieved at the end of each day.

HELP FOR HEROES

Beechdown are taking part in the national initiative ‘Gym for Heroes’ from the 24th to 30th July in aid of Help for Heroes.  You can still enter via www.gymforheroes.co.uk  and also donate. There will also be a Black Tie Ball at Beechdown on 11th September.  Tickets will be on sale  to coincide with the event at £45 per person.  Call 07710 726276 for details.

HELP FOR HEROES AUCTION

In the Brasserie, Friday July 30th starting at 8.00pm there’s an auction in aid of our Heroes.  Amongst other items are 2 VIP tickets for 6th to 8th August at Brands Hatch for the British Superbikes. The lot includes access to pits, meet the riders plus hospitality.  You cannot buy this pack anywhere. We are indebted to Nick Woods who donated this

LOST IPOD

One of our members lost their white IPOD shuffle in the club at the end of June. It has particular sentimental value so if you find it, or have picked it up by mistake, could you please hand it in to Reception? .
