Firstly a Happy New Year to all from everyone at Beechdown.
We've got lots to help your motivation levels this January
We are replacing all strength machines. The install will mean that from 1200 on Sunday 13th there will be restricted use of the gym. Only the Queenax area and Running Room will be open.
The Gym team will be on hand to help ensure you get a good workout, but please come early if you want a weights workout.
The Full Gym area will open again on Monday 14th at 6am. Sorry for the disruption.
The Studio Team also have new music and moves from January 14th so it's a great time to try a new Les Mills Class!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE GYM TEAM
Firstly let me wish you all a happy healthy new 2019.
We are so excited to be starting this year introducing brand new resistance equipment to our gym.
We are looking forward at inducting you all onto these machines and starting January with programmes to set you all up strong.
The Gym Team will be available throughout the month to help make sure you know how it all works and be on hand to help.
JANUARY TECHNOGYM COMPETITION
So you May have seen we have installed some new fabulous Technogym equipment in the running room.
We have 2 Skillmills and 3 Skillrows and this month we are focusing on the Skillrows. If you have a smart phone you can download the app free and compete against other participants and track your performance and also get feedback from your technique. We have set 3 challenges for you this month where you can time yourself rowing 100m, 200m and 500metres and keep track of your best time. All best efforts will be put in a hat and one random member will win a prize.
If you haven't had a chance at being shown how these work please speak to a member of the gym team for your induction.
NEW RULES FOR CHILDREN IN THE GYM
We have put in place a new policy that requires all children 12-16years of age to fill in a new PAR-Q which is to be completed with a parent. We also have a signing in sheet that will be on the gym desk for all children who will be using the gym without the supervision of their parent. All children using the gym must have had an induction on the cardio equipment and booked in for a body weight or light weight based programme where a gym instructor will guide you through it. Can all parents please make sure your child has completed a new PAR-Q before they next use the gym. Thank you for your co-operation.
SKI FIT - GET FIT FOR THE SLOPES
So speaking to lots of you the last couple of weeks there are some of you planning ski trips over the next few weeks. What a perfect time of the year to book in for a ski programme where we can incorporate the new Precor machines and functional equipment to produce you a programme to ensure you have good leg and core strength for the slopes. Please see the gym team for more details and book your appointment.
NEW YEAR REVIEW
As daunting as it sounds now is the perfect time to book in for your Inbody. Think of an inbody as a Body MOT. It's perfect for checking where you are at now and then planning the next 8-10 weeks before repeating to keep track of your progress.
You can book these in at Reception or with one of the Gym Team.

NEW INSTRUCTORS JOINING THE STUDIO TEAM...
We have an exciting start to 2019 in the studio.
Firstly we have our own fabulous Dave Lilly taking over the Tuesday evening Circuit class at 6.15pm from 8th January.
However, because we know Dave won't be delivering just any ordinary circuit class we've renamed it XTRAIN CIRCUITS. From Tabata training (HIIT) to traditional circuits. Body weight to barbells. Cardio to strength and endurance training. XTrain is perfect way to train all your major muscles. By varying your workout you'll never be bored, nor will your body. A great way to get fitter, stronger and fire up your metabolic rate, but at your own pace. Be warned though......XTrain will seriously change your shape and fitness! Dave is a DEMON!
We're so pleased to welcome Kim back to our studio team to take over your 2pm Aqua Fit on Wednesday's. Kim is a very experienced instructor with many qualifications and a wealth of knowledge in the industry. She has been a fitness professional for many years and is everything that truly embodies what makes a great coach. Kim's Aqua class is a brilliant free-style class made up from her own expertise in the field and promises to be a great workout. Aqua Fit is the perfect class for heart health, by gently increasing your pulse and breathing rate, and flexibility and muscular strength and endurance, whilst you push and pull against the resistance of the water. The best thing about Aqua Fit is it doesn't impact on joints and muscles as the buoyancy of the water supports the body throughout the workout. It might be low impact but you can take up the intensity by using your whole body, Aqua weights and noodles, with the resistance of the water.
We welcome Suzi as our newest member to join our studio team. Suzi will be taking over our 2.15pm Fit For Life class on Mondays. Suzi began her fitness journey qualifying as an exercise to music teacher and has since gone on to train and qualify in a variety of different styles of fitness classes. She has a very modern approach to fitness and is current on everything that is needed to be a great coach and deliver great classes. Fit For Life is specifically designed for our over 50's but don't be fooled in to thinking it's not going to have some challenges in there for you. Suzi aims to offer options and adaptations, where appropriate. However it's up to you, the participant, to work hard as you want to.
NEW YEAR......NEW LES MILLS RELEASES!!
Another great reason to get back in to the studio and make your New Years fitness resolutions successful. All our Les Mills programmes have new choreography, new music and new fresh and current innovations. We have decided to launch the new programmes throughout the week starting from 14th January in ALL your Les Mills classes so everyone has the chance to sample them at a time that suits you best. We will end the week with a fabulous, fun, team teaching launch weekend. We are proud to have 5 of the Les Mills programmes on our timetable and for those of you who have not yet tried any of these here are the class descriptions to help you chose which ones might suit you best. (or just try them all and find your favourite!) BodyCombat 78, The Ultimate Warrior Workout to develop co-ordination and relieve stress. BodyCombat is a high-energy martial arts inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness and burn up to 740 calories in a class. BodyAttack 103, is a high energy group exercise class to build the fitness you need for everyday life and specific sports. BodyAttack is aimed primarily at developing cardiovascular fitness as well as build your muscles and improve stamina. That, combined with strength and stamina exercises to tone and shape your body, makes this class a must to add to your fitness regime. BodyJam 87, is an addictive fusion of the latest dance styles and hottest new sounds. BodyJam puts the emphasis as much on having fun as breaking a sweat. The ultimate combination of music, culture and dance. BodyPump 108, Get lean, build strength and tone muscle with BodyPump. A group-based barbell class to work on all your major muscle groups. You can burn up to 600 calories in one hour of BodyPump making this a class to GET results. BodyBalance 83, is a yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. Bend and stretch your way through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Ideal for anyone and everyone. Although we have these great classes to offer you don't forget our Timetable is packed with so much variety from our "Mind/Body" classes like Yoga and Pilates to toning classes like CoreWorks and Barre. There really is something for everyone. Come along and start the new year with us in the studio. We have so much to help you really enjoy your fitness/workout AND we believe it should start with FUN! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL THE KIDZ
A huge Happy New Year to you all from KidzTeam!
We have had a fantastic year with lots of fun, laughter and happy memories.
Highlights have been, disco dancing, football tournaments, family fun days, magician and other entertainment days.
The Christmas party was fantastic with the Father Christmas magic, bringing excitement to all the children's faces.
We have made improvements to the kidz area and will be continuing to do so in 2019 with so many ideas and fun to implement.
Any ideas are always welcomed. Talk to Suzanne in club or email her using details below.
GET ACTIVE COMPETITION
We have devised reward cards for children's exercise classes. Collect from Kidzteam. Fill your card by attending any class on the kidz timetable!
Each instructor will have a stamp to pop on the cards, Collect 8 stamps. Once completed hand in to Kidzteam for a chance of winning a prize!
Please note most afternoon activities recommence from Monday 7th - when schools go back.
DISCO TIME FRIDAY 18TH
January can be a little quiet after a month of parties and celebrations.
We like to be different in KidzKlub, therefore we are putting on a disco on Friday 18th Jan 17:30-18:30.
This will be neon themed, so be sure to wear something bright!We will be dancing and playing games. Just turn up for the fun!
Still some spaces on the next course of swimming lessons starting w/c 7th January for 6 weeks. Call Reception to enquire or book.
SCIENCE DAY SATURDAY 12TH JANUARY
Children loved the science day we had, making slime, watching explosive experiments and much more! We will have a science-themed day on Saturday 12th January. This time we will be turning water into ice, making gloop, lava lamps and much more! Just turn up, anytime between 9:00-13:00!
Just a reminder that Creche, Beehive & Kidzklub will be open 9-1 for the rest of the School Holidays. We look forward to seeing you!

NEW YEAR, NEW SPORT??
New year, new you, why not try a new racket sport in 2019?
We have an Amazing team of Rackets coaches at Beechdown and a busy timetable of group coaching that is all included in your membership.
Throughout January Tom is available for a FREE 20 min assessment and he'll then guide you to the correct group coaching session that will be full of players of similar abilities.
Great for helping to motivate you to improve and also creating a social group to help you enjoy your leisure time. All levels encouraged. Email Tom at email@example.com to book a session.
BEECHDOWN TENNIS TEAM DOING WELL!
All of the tennis teams are doing amazing in the winter leagues. All teams are in with a chance of winning there leagues or gaining promotion which is great.
If interested in playing for the teams speak to Tom or come on Monday at 8-9.30pm or Thursday 7.30-9pm.
ADULT FUN DOUBLES TENNIS - SATURDAY JANUARY 26th 4pm - 6pm
Tom is organising a tennis fun doubles tournament. Find a partner and sign up on tennis board and see who will reign as doubles champs at start of year. If you need help finding a partner speak to Tom
ADULT SQUASH TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 27TH 6pm - 8pm
Join us for a Squash Tournament on 27th Sunday 6-8pm Squash tournament for all levels we will organise matches and give tactical help. Sign up on the squash board to enter.
JUNIOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT - SUNDAY 27TH 6pm - 8pm
Tom's organised a Junior Tennis Tournament for anyone participating in the tennis coaching sessions.
Saturday 19th January 2-3.30pm. This is for players aged 6 plus.

HEALTHY JANUARY SPECIALS
This month's specials menu is inspired by healthy eating and will help to kick-start your healthy eating resolutions for the New Year. There will be a Vegan cauliflower Tikka Masala, a delicious warm goats cheese and beetroot salad, nutritious prawn and salmon burgers and protein-packed pancakes for a great post-work out boost!

GIVING DRY JANUARY A GO?
Dry January is one of the most popular New Year's Resolutions - however just because you've given up your favourite poison for the month, don't let it kill your social life too!
Come down to the Brasserie and try our 0% non-alcoholic beer Bavaria. Bavaria is brewed differently to most non-alcoholic beer, as usually the alcohol is filtered out of a malt beer at the last stage of the brewing process, whereas Bavaria alter the brewing process so that no alcohol is created at any stage, resulting in a unique fully-bodied flavour.

BOOKING A CLASS
To book a class click here. The top of the page contains a filter to help you easily identify the class you want. Tap a filter to apply. clicking on another filter will clear the previous.
After selecting your class there will be a confirmation page before your booking is made. If your booking has been successful you will receive a confirmation email shortly after.
Please note that all our classes are bookable 48 hours in advance of the class. However only the classes marked with a * in our printed timetable are likely to be full.
If you book onto the waiting list for a full class you will be sent a text message if a space becomes available for you.
Please remember to cancel any classes that you cannot attend so other members can be offered a space.

BOOKING A COURT
All Courts can be booked 7 days in advance. It's a rolling 7 days, so as an example, 5pm Monday courts release at 5pm the Monday before.
Choose your sport, then click on the time you would like to play at and click next. You will then see a list of available times, select the one you want and click next.
There will be a confirmation page before your booking is made. If your booking has been successful you will receive a confirmation email shortly after.
