POWERPLATE - BOOK A 15 MINUTE INTRO
So in February Tanya, Tina and Sarah had an updated Powerplate training session, the Powerplate training techniques have been updated a lot.
It was very educational and the research behind this wonderful piece of equipment is supported by real testimonials.
We were taken through different techniques for warming up before a workout, strength training to be used within a workout and great stretching and massage techniques to use after a workout. We would love to offer 15min Powerplate appointments this month to re-educate you all on how the Powerplate may benefit you and your training and also great for rehabilitation in some conditions and injuries. If you would like to make an appointment please speak to a member of the gym team.
CHANTELLE NEW OFFERING PERSONAL TRAINING
Personal Training with Chantelle! Now the days are getting longer we're all getting more motivated to get moving and maybe set ourselves some new fitness goals.
My goal is to help train anyone of any ability to reach their full potential.
If you would like to chat about how I can help you please find me in the gym or find my details on one of the posters in the gym.
The bookable classes Spin and Queenax are still extremely popular, we would like to remind you that you aren't able to book onto back to back evening spin instructor led classes. Also if you are booked onto a spin or Queenax class please cancel as soon as you know you can't make it to allow us to offer this to someone on the waiting list. Also please note the children's Queenax classes are for children 8 years and over due to the clubs health and safety rules. Thank you for your cooperation.
NEW MEMBER OF GYM TEAM
You may have noticed a very bubbly member of the gym team walking around the gym and shadowing the other guys. Jay has joined us and is looking forward to getting started with programmes and classes once he is familiar with the role. If you see him in the gym make sure you stop and say Hi!
MYZONE LEADER BOARD CHALLENGE
This idea came direct from a member and we thought it was a great one.... So for all you MEP hunters who like to compete for the top 10 MEP Leader Board we've created a MYZONE Challenge.
We've entered everyone into the challenge(but you can easily opt out when you open the APP)
This will mean that you will then be able to see a Leader Board on your MYZONE App rather than just in club! NO PRIZES - but hopefully good for motivation anyway!
If it works well we can do this every month.
See you in the Gym
AQUA FIT: NEW CLASS BEING ADDED MONDAY MORNINGS AT 10AM
Why should you consider it in your workout routine!?
Does your workout routine have you drowning in boredom?
If you need a change of pace, moving your workout to the water may rekindle your enthusiasm, while at the same time providing some unique health benefits.
You might think you could not possibly get as intense of a workout in water, but research suggests otherwise.
Due to the resistance of the water, it just seems like you can't work as hard, but in reality you are.
The water acts as a form of built-in resistance, as if you've surrounded your body with weights, making it simple to increase the intensity of your workout and challenge muscles that are harder to engage on land.
Also, because water lessens the effects of gravity, you're able to move your body through a wider range of motion, which improves flexibility. Even your lungs get a beneficial workout, because the water pressure makes them work harder than they would on land. Because it's low-impact and easily tailored to your fitness level, anyone can benefit from water exercise, regardless of age or agility.
If you have arthritis, osteoporosis, or an injury that makes weight-bearing exercise, difficult or painful, water may be an excellent choice. The water also reduces the pressure on your back and knees.
To appreciate why water training works so well, you need to understand water's unique properties. In water, you have almost no gravity. You're relieved of 90 percent of your body weight, so you become buoyant. This frees you to move in new ways. You can float, bob and relax without feeling like you're putting out an effort.
Yet water provides 12 to 14 percent more resistance than air, so moving through it is like having weights all around your body. Exercising in water builds cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility, helps burn body fat, increases circulation, and can help you rehabilitate healing muscles and joints. Research shows that people who water exercise can burn as much body fat and build as much muscle as those who engage in land-based exercise programs. A very interesting fact: According to the American Council on Exercise, during a "water workout" your heart rate will be reduced by as much as 17 beats per minute compared to a land workout, so be sure to keep this in mind if you use your heart rate to gauge your intensity. You'll need to listen to your body-as opposed to relying solely on your heart rate-to know when you've had enough.
With all this in mind Aqua Fit is not just your average "splash about" workout, it can be as intense as all our land-based classes, but without the unnecessary impact on joints and muscles. AND it's down to you to make it as intense as you want! Our Water Aerobics classes run on;
Monday 7.30pm with Olga
Wednesday 2pm with Kim
Wednesday 7pm with Lisa
Friday 1.45pm with Louise
AND NOW; starting on 4th March;
Monday at 10am with Chantelle
STRESS IS WATER SOLUBLE!!! Heather
